A post office was opened in Edge Hill in 1902, but it closed just one year later in 1903. The Georgia General Assembly, which is like the state's law-making body, officially made Edge Hill a city on January 1, 1939. The name "Edge Hill" describes how the town is located on the edge of a hill.
