History of Edna
The story of Edna began in the 1870s. The very first store in the area opened its doors in 1876. A few years later, in April 1878, the first post office was set up, making it easier for people to send and receive mail.
How Edna Got Its Name
The town of Edna was officially planned out, or platted, in the summer of 1886. This happened when the railroad tracks were extended to reach that spot. The city was named in 1876 after a child named Edna Gragery.

The Edna Public Library, an important place for learning and reading, first opened its doors in 1950.
