Edsbyns IF is a famous bandy team from Edsbyn, a town in Sweden. The club started on June 6, 1909. Bandy is a sport played on ice, similar to ice hockey but with a ball instead of a puck.

The bandy part of the club began in 1925. It officially became its own separate club on June 28, 2000. Edsbyns IF has played in Sweden's top bandy league, called Elitserien, for many years. They were in the top league from 1945 to 1969, and then again since 1971.

Team History

Edsbyns IF was first created in 1909. Over the years, the club grew and became very successful in bandy.

In September 2003, Edsbyn moved into the Edsbyn Arena. This was a big deal because it was the very first indoor arena built just for bandy in Sweden! Playing indoors helped the team, and they won the Swedish Championship that season.

On March 26, 2004, the men's team played an exciting exhibition game in London, England. They played against Vodnik, a strong team from Russia. The game ended in a thrilling 10-10 tie!

The club's bandy section received the Hälsingland Golden Award in 2004. This award celebrates great achievements in sports. Some individual players from the club have also won this award.

In June 2009, the club decided to pause their women's bandy team for a season. However, they kept supporting girls' bandy activities. They hoped to restart the women's team soon. On October 4, 2009, a new women's team called Team Hälsingland was formed. This team was a partnership between several clubs, including Edsbyns IF.

Team Hälsingland stopped playing in 2017. Three years later, in 2020, Edsbyns IF started a new women's bandy team. As of now, this team plays in Norra Allsvenskan. This is Sweden's second-highest league for women's bandy.
