The Edson River is a small river located in west-central Alberta, Canada. It flows through a scenic area of the province. Both the river and the nearby town of Edson get their name from a notable person. This person was Edson Joseph Chamberlin (1852–1924). He was a Vice-President and General Manager for the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. He also served as the President of the Grand Trunk Railway.

The River's Journey
The Edson River starts its journey in the hills north of Highway 16. It flows generally towards the east and southeast. Along its path, several smaller creeks join the river, adding to its flow.
Crossing the Edson River
The river is crossed by a road called the Emerson Lake Haul Road. This road is used for many purposes and was first built by companies working in the oil and gas industry. The Edson River is also crossed two times by Alberta Highway 748.
Where the River Ends
Finally, the Edson River flows into the McLeod River near a place called Wolf Creek, Alberta. This is where its journey comes to an end.
