Eduardo Paniagua facts for kids
Eduardo Paniagua (born in 1952 in Madrid, Spain) is a Spanish architect and a talented musician. He is especially known for his work with medieval Spanish music.
From 1966 to 1983, Eduardo was part of a music group called Atrium Musicae de Madrid. His older brother, Gregorio, led this group. Eduardo played wind instruments and percussion, like drums and flutes. Later, he helped start two new groups, Cálamus and Hoquetus. These groups focused on the music from Al-Andalus, which was a part of Spain where Arab culture was very strong a long time ago.
In 1994, Eduardo Paniagua created a group called Música Antigua. Their main goal was to perform and record the Cantigas de Santa Maria. These are old songs from the Middle Ages. In the same year, he also started the Ibn Báya Ensemble with an oud player named Omar Metioui. This group played and recorded music from Al-Andalus. Eduardo often works with singers from Morocco and an oud player from Algeria.
Paniagua also started and runs his own record company called Pneuma. Through Pneuma, he has released many of his own music recordings. Some of these recordings are new versions of older albums, or collections of songs from other Pneuma albums.
