About Edwardstown

Edwardstown is a busy suburb known for its shops and transport links. It's a great place to live with easy access to many parts of Adelaide.

How Edwardstown Got Its Shape

In 1989, the suburb of Edwardstown was divided into two parts. The area east of South Road became a new suburb called Melrose Park. This happened because Edwardstown was very large. It also stretched across areas managed by two different local councils. The larger western side of the suburb stayed as Edwardstown and belongs to the City of Marion.

Edwardstown's Local Government

Edwardstown is represented in both state and federal governments. For the state government, it falls into two areas. These are the South Australian House of Assembly districts of Badcoe and Elder. For the national government, it is part of the Australian House of Representatives area called the Division of Boothby. These districts help make sure the people of Edwardstown have a voice in government.

Shopping and Transport in Edwardstown

Edwardstown is home to the Castle Plaza Shopping Centre. This is a popular spot for locals to shop and meet. The suburb also has good public transport. You can easily get around using the Woodlands Park and Edwardstown railway stations.

Past Names of Edwardstown
