Edwin Enrique Aguilar Samaniego was born on August 7, 1985. He is a professional Panamanian footballer. He plays as a striker, which means he is usually the player who scores goals. Currently, he plays for Tauro.
Club Career
Edwin Aguilar has played for many different football clubs. He started his career with Tauro F.C. in Panama. In August 2008, he was going to play for a team in Ukraine called Karpaty Lviv for six months. However, he missed his flight and returned to Panama.
He did play in other countries later on. He played in Colombia for clubs like América de Cali and Real Cartagena. He also played in Venezuela. A big achievement for Edwin was becoming the top goalscorer in the Venezuelan league during the 2014/15 season. He scored 23 goals for Deportivo Anzoátegui that year. Aguilar has returned to play for Tauro several times throughout his career, including in September 2015.
International Career
Edwin Aguilar has also played for his home country, Panama. He made his first appearance for the Panama national team in October 2005. This was during a FIFA World Cup qualification match against Trinidad and Tobago.
He has played in important tournaments for Panama. He was part of the team for the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship. He was also in the squad for the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup, though he did not play in that tournament. A big moment for Edwin and his team was winning the 2009 UNCAF Nations Cup in Honduras.
