Edwin Ubiles (born November 26, 1986) is a former professional basketball player from Puerto Rico. He played college basketball for Siena College in the United States. Edwin grew up in Poughkeepsie, New York. During his four years at Siena, he scored a total of 1,939 points. This made him the third-highest scorer in the school's history. He averaged 14.8 points per game.

Starting in the D-League
In November 2011, Edwin Ubiles joined the Dakota Wizards. This team was part of the NBA Development League, also known as the D-League. The D-League is where players often go to improve their skills and get noticed by NBA teams.
Edwin played so well that he was chosen for the 2012 D-League All-Star Game. This is a special game where the best players from the league get to show off their talents.
Making it to the NBA
On March 18, 2012, Edwin got a big chance! He signed a 10-day contract with the Washington Wizards, an NBA team. This was a huge moment for him.
He made his NBA debut on March 21, 2012. This made him the first player from Siena College to ever play in a regular NBA game. After his 10-day contract ended, he went back to play for the Dakota Wizards.
On April 20, 2012, Edwin was named the D-League Rookie of the Year. This award goes to the best new player in the league. He averaged 19.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. He was also chosen for the All-NBA D-League First Team and the All-Rookie First Team. These awards showed he was one of the top players in the league.
Playing Around the World
After his time in the D-League and NBA, Edwin played basketball in different countries.
- In September 2012, he signed with Cholet Basket in France. However, he left the team a month later to recover from a foot injury back home.
- In January 2013, he returned to the NBA Development League. He played for the Santa Cruz Warriors and later for the Springfield Armor.
- In September 2013, Edwin moved to Japan. He signed with Kyoto Hannaryz for the 2013–14 season. He played 50 games for Kyoto, averaging 15.5 points per game.
- In August 2014, he signed a one-year deal with Maccabi Ashdod B.C. in Israel. He played six games there before returning to Puerto Rico.
- In 2015, he played for two teams in Puerto Rico: Atenienses de Manatí and Vaqueros de Bayamón.
- In November 2015, he signed with Caciques de Humacao for the 2016 season in Puerto Rico.
- In December 2016, Edwin joined the Chautauqua Hurricane in the Premier Basketball League.
- In December 2017, he signed with the Albany Patroons in the North American Premier Basketball league.
- In June 2018, he played for Leones de Ponce in Puerto Rico.
- He also continued to play for the Albany Patroons in The Basketball League.
Personal Life
Edwin Ubiles has two daughters who are twins, named Laila and Thalia.
