Elías Querejeta Gárate (born October 27, 1934 – died June 9, 2013) was a famous Spanish film producer and screenwriter. He was known in the Spanish film world as "The Producer" because of his important work. He is the father of director Gracia Querejeta.

Early Life and Football
Elías Querejeta was born in Hernani, Spain. Before he became a film producer, he was a talented football player. He played as a midfielder for Real Sociedad, a well-known team.
At just 18 years old, he made his first appearance in La Liga, which is Spain's top football league. His brother, José María, was also a football player and played as a goalkeeper. Elías's football career ended in 1959 when he decided to move to Madrid.
Becoming a Film Producer
After leaving football, Elías Querejeta started his own company to make films. A film producer is like the manager of a movie. They help get the money, hire the right people, and make sure the film gets made.
Querejeta produced many of the most famous Spanish films from the 1960s and 1970s. He worked closely with many talented directors.
Working with Famous Directors
Elías Querejeta was known for helping directors bring their visions to life. He worked with Carlos Saura on 13 films, which is a lot! He also worked with Víctor Erice (2 films), Montxo Armendáriz (4 films), and Fernando León de Aranoa (3 films).
He helped start the careers of many directors, including his own daughter, Gracia Querejeta. Other directors he supported were Jaime Chávarri and Emilio Martínez Lázaro.
Award-Winning Films
Some of the movies Elías Querejeta produced won big awards. For example, he produced Carlos Saura's La Prima Angélica (1973) and Cría Cuervos (1975). Both of these films won special jury prizes at the Cannes Film Festival, which is a very important film festival.
He also produced Mama Turns 100 (1979). This film was even nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Mama Turns 100 was a follow-up to another film he produced, Ana and the Wolves (1973).
Personal Life
Elías Querejeta had a daughter named Gracia Querejeta, who also became a film director. He was married to Maria Carmen Marín. He passed away in 2013 in Madrid, Spain, at the age of 78.
