Where is Elgin Located?
Elgin is found in the middle part of Lancaster County. You can find it along U.S. Route 521. It's about 4 miles (6.4 km) southeast of Lancaster, which is the main town and "county seat" where the county government offices are. It's also about 6 miles (9.7 km) northwest of Heath Springs.

The area of Elgin covers about 4.9 square miles (12.6 square kilometers). Most of this land is dry, but a small part, about 0.02 square miles (0.04 square kilometers), is water.
Water from Elgin flows into nearby creeks. To the west, water goes into Turkey Quarter Creek. To the east, it flows into Dry Branch. Both of these creeks eventually join Bear Creek, which then flows into Cane Creek, and finally into the Catawba River.
