Elix Skipper (born December 15, 1967) is an American retired professional wrestler. He is famous for his time in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and NWA Total Nonstop Action (TNA). In WCW, he won the Cruiserweight Championship once and the WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship once. In TNA, he was a four-time NWA World Tag Team Champion.

Early Life and Training

Elix Skipper was born in Roosevelt, New York, on December 15, 1967. Before becoming a wrestler, he was involved in kickboxing. He decided to follow his dream of wrestling. He left his job as a McDonald's manager in Long Island. Then, he traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, to try out for the WCW Power Plant. This was a special school for professional wrestlers run by World Championship Wrestling.

Professional Wrestling Career

Starting in World Championship Wrestling (2000–2001)

Skipper was accepted into the WCW Power Plant. He began his training there and first wrestled in 1999 at a smaller, independent show. After training for eight months, he made his TV debut on Saturday Night. Seven months later, Skipper started wrestling on WCW Thunder and WCW Monday Nitro. He used the ring name "Skip Over." He often faced other fast and agile wrestlers in the cruiserweight division.

In August 2000, Skipper started using his real name, Elix Skipper. He also got the nickname "Primetime." He joined a group called Team Canada. This happened after he helped Lance Storm win a match. At that time, Lance Storm held three WCW titles. He gave Skipper the Cruiserweight Championship. Storm had renamed it the "101 Kilos and Under Title." Even though Skipper was American, he was presented as Canadian. He even had a Grey Cup ring, like a Canadian Football League player. Skipper held this title until October 2, 2000. Mike Sanders defeated him and changed the title back to the Cruiserweight Championship. Team Canada had rivalries with other groups like the Misfits In Action and the Filthy Animals.

In early 2001, Skipper left Team Canada. He focused on the cruiserweight division. In February and March 2001, he teamed up with Kid Romeo. They competed in a tournament to crown the first WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship holders. Skipper and Romeo won the tournament. They defeated Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio at Greed on March 18, 2001. This was WCW's last big event. On March 26, 2001, Skipper and Romeo lost the tag team titles back to Kidman and Mysterio.

In March 2001, World Championship Wrestling was bought by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Some wrestlers, including Skipper, signed contracts to continue training with WWF.

Time in World Wrestling Federation (2001)

Skipper joined the WWF during a storyline called The Invasion. He was part of The Alliance group. The WWF then sent Skipper to the Heartland Wrestling Association (HWA). This was a training area for new wrestlers. He trained there for nine months. He was released from his contract in December 2001.

Wrestling in Japan (2002, 2003)

After leaving WWF, Skipper went to Japan. He wrestled for All Japan Pro Wrestling. He used his real name, Elix Skipper, and also the names "Dark Guerrera" and "Extreme Blade." When he was "Extreme Blade," he wore a mask.

NWA Total Nonstop Action (2002–2006, 2007–2008)

Forming Triple X (2002–2004)

Skipper joined NWA Total Nonstop Action (TNA) when it started in June 2002. He debuted on TNA's third weekly show. He competed in the X Division, known for its fast-paced, high-flying matches. He also continued to wrestle in Japan. On December 18, 2002, Skipper formed a three-person tag team called Triple X. His teammates were Low Ki and Christopher Daniels. Triple X also joined a large group of "bad guys" called Sports Entertainment Xtreme, led by Vince Russo.

In 2003, Triple X had a big rivalry with America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris and James Storm). Triple X won the NWA World Tag Team Championship three times. All three members of Triple X were recognized as champions. Any two members could defend the titles, which was a special rule. Triple X broke up in mid-2003 when Low Ki went to wrestle in Japan. On June 25, 2003, America's Most Wanted defeated Skipper and Daniels in a steel cage match. This ended their rivalry.

Skipper left TNA briefly in July 2003 due to a disagreement about pay. He wrestled in Japan until December 2003. Then, TNA offered him a better contract, and he returned. When he came back, Skipper joined Team USA for two tournaments: the America's X Cup and the World X Cup. Team USA won the World X Cup.

In July 2004, Skipper and Daniels reformed Triple X. They started their rivalry with America's Most Wanted again. During this time, Skipper and Chris Harris (from America's Most Wanted) teamed up. Their regular partners were unavailable. Even though they struggled to work together, Skipper and Harris defeated The Naturals to win the NWA World Tag Team Championship. They held the titles for a few weeks. They then lost them to Christopher Daniels and James Storm. After Daniels and Storm lost the titles to Team Canada, the rivalry between Triple X and America's Wanted continued. America's Most Wanted defeated Triple X in a "last team standing" match at Victory Road on November 7, 2004. Skipper got a concussion during this match. Their rivalry ended in a steel cage match at Turning Point on December 5, 2004. The losing team had to break up. America's Most Wanted won, so Triple X disbanded.

Diamonds in the Rough (2005–2006)

After Triple X broke up, Skipper and Daniels started a rivalry against each other. Skipper tried to win the TNA X Division Championship from Daniels at Lockdown on April 24, 2005, but he was not successful. Skipper continued to wrestle in the X Division. In August 2005, he joined a group called "Diamonds in the Rough" with Simon Diamond. He formed a tag team with David Young. The Diamonds in the Rough competed in the tag team division throughout 2005. In December 2005, they had a disagreement with Major League Baseball player A. J. Pierzynski. Pierzynski got back at them by causing them to lose a match at Turning Point on December 11, 2005.

The Diamonds in the Rough continued to wrestle in TNA's tag team division in 2006. However, they did not get many big matches. In February 2007, both Skipper and Young left TNA.

Triple X Reunion (2007–2008)

On July 15, 2007, Elix Skipper returned to TNA at Victory Road. He competed in an Ultimate X match and reformed Triple X with Daniels and Senshi (who was formerly Low Ki). On the July 19 episode of Impact!, Triple X won their first match back against Serotonin. Triple X later lost to The Latin American Xchange at Bound For Glory in another Ultimate X Match.

After Christopher Daniels left TNA, Skipper teamed up with Senshi again. However, this tag team was short-lived because Senshi also left TNA in January. After Senshi's departure, Skipper appeared less often. He wrestled his last televised match in April 2008, which he lost. He was released from his contract in May 2008.

Personal Life

Elix Skipper has four children. He has two daughters and two sons from two previous marriages.
