Elk Point is a small town in Eastern Alberta, Canada. It is located right on Highway 41. The town is also close to the North Saskatchewan River.
Elk Point is an important place for businesses related to oil. Agriculture (farming) is also a big part of the local economy.
The North Saskatchewan River was once a major route for the fur trade. Both the Hudson's Bay Company and the North West Company had trading posts nearby. Today, you can visit an interpretive centre near the old sites of Fort George and Buckingham House.
You can see a large statue of Peter Fidler in Elk Point. He was an important person during the fur trade days. There is also a mural showing the town's history. The Iron Horse Trail, which is a path built on old railway lines, is also nearby.
Elk Point celebrated its 100th birthday (centennial) on June 30 and July 1, 2007.
