Elkhart is a small city located in Polk County, Iowa, in the United States. In 2020, about 882 people lived there. Elkhart is part of the larger Des Moines metropolitan area.

History of Elkhart
Elkhart was started in 1853 by people who came from a town called Elkhart, Indiana. At first, the town's population went down. Because of this, the Elkhart Post Office moved to a nearby town named Ottawa. After a few years, the post office, and the name "Elkhart," moved again to where the city is today. Elkhart officially became a city on July 27, 1904.
