Els Guiamets is a small town in Catalonia, Spain. It is located in the southern part of a region called Priorat. This area is known as a comarca.

The town is connected to a main road, the N-420, by a local road. This road runs between the towns of Falset and Móra la Nova. Els Guiamets also has a reservoir. This reservoir is on a smaller river that flows into the Siurana (Tarragona) river.

In the Middle Ages, a very long time ago, Els Guiamets was part of an important area. This area was known as the Barony of Entença. A barony was a land ruled by a baron.

Neus Català: A Brave Survivor

Neus Català (1915-2019) was a very important person from Els Guiamets. She was a member of a political group called the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSUC). This was during the Spanish Civil War.

Neus Català is famous for her incredible bravery. She was the only Spanish person to survive the Ravensbrück camp. This was a very difficult time during World War II. Her story shows great strength and courage.

The number of people living in Els Guiamets has changed over the years. In 1900, about 413 people lived there. By 1930, the population was similar, with 416 residents.

In 1950, the number dropped to 332 people. It stayed around that number for a while. In 1970, there were 339 residents. By 1986, the population was 305. In 2007, it was 332 people. More recently, in 2018, the population was about 270 people.
