Elsie is a small, unincorporated community located in Clatsop County, Oregon. It is nestled in the beautiful Northern Oregon Coast Range. You can find Elsie where Oregon Route 103 and U.S. Route 26 meet. These roads cross the Nehalem River right in Elsie.

A Bit of History

Elsie got its name from a person! The community was named after Elsie Foster. She was a relative of George Gragg, who became Elsie's very first postmaster. A post office for Elsie was opened in 1892. It served the community for many years before closing its doors in 1943.

What to See in Elsie

One interesting place in Elsie is called Camp 18. This spot is both a restaurant and a logging museum. The restaurant building looks like a giant log cabin. It was built using timber from the local area. The building has a huge 85-foot ridge pole. Its front doors are also very impressive, weighing 500 pounds each!
