Emad Moteab's Football Journey
Emad Moteab started his football career playing for youth teams. He quickly showed his talent as a goal scorer.
Playing for Egypt's Youth Team
In 2003, Emad Moteab played for the Egyptian youth team in the African Youth Championship held in Burkina Faso. He was a key player, scoring five goals during the tournament. His team won the championship, which was a great achievement.
After that, he also played in the Youth World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. There, he scored a memorable goal against England. This goal was so impressive that FIFA (the international football organization) chose it as the best goal of the entire tournament!
Joining the Senior National Team
Emad Moteab soon joined the main Egyptian national team. He played under the same coach, Hassan Shehata, who had led the youth team. With the senior team, Moteab helped Egypt win the Africa Cup of Nations three times in a row. These victories happened in 2006, 2008, and 2010. This was a very special time for Egyptian football.
He also won a gold medal at the Arab Games in Cairo in 2007. He was the top scorer in that tournament, scoring 5 goals. Emad Moteab played 70 matches for the national team and scored 28 goals. This makes him the sixth highest goal scorer in the history of the Egyptian national team.
One of his most famous goals was against the Algerian national team in 2009. This was during the qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup. He scored a header in the very last moments of the game at Cairo International Stadium. This goal made the whole stadium erupt with excitement!
