Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty (born September 9, 1980 – died September 25, 2017) was an Egyptian woman. She became known for being one of the heaviest people ever recorded. At one point, she was considered the heaviest living woman in the world. She was the second heaviest woman in history, after Carol Yager. Eman was about 141 centimeters (4 feet 7.5 inches) tall. Her initial weight was thought to be around 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds).

Early Life

Eman was born in Alexandria, Egypt. Her family said she weighed about 5 kilograms (11 pounds) when she was born. She had a health problem with her thyroid gland. This condition made it hard for her to go to school. She lived in Alexandria for most of her life.

Her Journey for Treatment

In February 2017, Eman traveled to Mumbai, India. She went to Saifee Hospital to get help. A team of doctors, led by Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala, treated her. This team included many different specialists. They used a type of operation called bariatric surgery. This surgery helps people lose a lot of weight.

Eman stayed in Mumbai for several months after her operation. The doctors hoped to do two operations. They also planned to help her reduce her weight to less than 100 kilograms (220 pounds) over the next few years.

After her treatment in India, Eman lost about 325 kilograms (717 pounds). On May 4, 2017, she moved to the United Arab Emirates. She went there for more long-term care. Doctors said she also had heart problems and infected bed sores. A team of 20 doctors at Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi looked after her.

Her Passing

Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty died on Monday, September 25, 2017. She passed away at 4:35 PM, just 16 days after her 37th birthday. She died from health problems related to her condition. These included heart disease and kidney problems. She was at Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE, where she had been since May.
