Emanuel Cook (born January 20, 1988) is a former American football player. He played as a safety, a position that helps defend against passes and tackles opposing players. Cook played college football at the University of South Carolina. He later played for several professional teams, including the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens.

Early Life and High School Football

Emanuel Cook grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. He went to Palm Beach Gardens Community High School. During his senior year, he was an amazing running back. He ran for 2,027 yards and scored 27 touchdowns.

Cook was named the South Florida Sun-Sentinel Player of the Year. He helped his team win the Class 6A state championship. This was the first state title in his school's history. In one game, he ran for 373 yards and scored five touchdowns.

College Career at South Carolina

Cook played college football for the University of South Carolina. He was a strong defensive player. In 2006, as a freshman, he was named Freshman All-SEC. He had 47 tackles in just 10 games.

In 2007, Cook was a second-team All-SEC player. He led his team with 92 tackles. He also had 4 sacks and 3 interceptions. An interception is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an offensive player.

By 2008, he was the team's top tackler with 97 tackles. He was a key player for the Gamecocks' defense.

Professional Football Journey

Emanuel Cook began his professional career in 2009. He was not chosen in the NFL Draft. However, he was signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent. This means a team signed him even though he wasn't drafted.

Time with the Jets and Buccaneers

After being with the Jets briefly, Cook joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was part of their practice squad. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team but are not on the main roster. He later returned to the New York Jets for a second time.

Playing in the UFL

In 2010, Cook also played for the Hartford Colonials. This team was part of the United Football League (UFL). The UFL was a professional football league that ran for a few years.

Back to the NFL

Cook returned to the New York Jets for a third time in 2010. He played for them until 2011. Later that year, he was picked up by the Baltimore Ravens. He was part of the Ravens team that won Super Bowl XLVII in 2013. This is one of the biggest achievements for a football player.

Arena Football League Career

After his time in the NFL, Cook played in the Arena Football League (AFL). This is a different type of football played indoors on a smaller field.

  • In 2015, he joined the Orlando Predators. He played for them for two seasons.
  • In 2016, he moved to the Tampa Bay Storm. He continued to play safety in the AFL.

Emanuel Cook had a long career playing professional football. He played in both the NFL and the AFL.
