Emilia Ortiz Pérez (born in Tepic, Mexico, in 1917 – died in Tepic, November 24, 2012) was a talented Mexican artist. She was known for many things: a painter, a cartoonist, a caricaturist (someone who draws funny pictures of people), and a poet. Her beautiful watercolor paintings were especially famous.
Emilia's father, Abraham D. Ortiz, came from Oaxaca. He moved to Tepic, where he married Elvira Perez. He worked in businesses like selling small sewing items (haberdashery) and hardware.
