He was known for playing as a right back, which is a defensive position on the field. Emilio Martínez was a very important player for the Paraguay national team. He played for the Paraguay Under-23 team, which is a team for younger players.

Martínez was part of the Paraguay team that won a silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. This was a huge achievement for his country! The team played very well throughout the tournament.
