Emily Cheng (born in 1953) is an American artist. Her family comes from China. She is famous for her large paintings. These paintings often have a main circle in the middle. They use bright colors and designs that spread out from the center. Emily Cheng has won many important awards for her art. These include fellowships from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and the New York Foundation for the Arts. She also received a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Emily Cheng's Art Journey
Emily Cheng studied art at two well-known schools. She earned her degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1975. She also attended the New York Studio School. Since 1977, Emily Cheng has lived and worked in New York City. She also teaches Asian Art History at the School of Visual Arts.
Her artwork has been shown in many places. You can see her paintings in the United States and in Asia. In 2011, she created a special art show. It was called Charting Sacred Territories. This show explored different world religions. It opened in the Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei in Taiwan. Later, it traveled to China and Austria.
A book about Emily Cheng's art was published in 2007. It is called Chasing Clouds, a decade of studies. This book looks at her artwork over ten years.
