She studied at Kingston Polytechnic, where she took a Foundation Course in Art and Design. Later, she went to Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. She graduated in 1992 with degrees in graphic design and illustration. This means she learned how to create visual ideas and draw pictures for books and other media.

Becoming a Children's Book Creator

When Emma first started her career, she worked in advertising and for magazines. She created designs for big companies like Volvo and BMW. She also worked for famous newspapers such as The Guardian and The Observer.

However, Emma soon began to illustrate books for children. Over time, creating children's picture books became her main focus. She loves to write and draw stories that young readers can enjoy.

Awards and Recognition

Emma Dodd's work has received special attention and awards. She illustrated the Amazing Baby series, which won awards. In 2010, her book I Love My Mummy, written by Giles Andreae, was chosen as a winner in the Booktrust Early Years Awards.
