Emma Moffatt, born on September 7, 1984, is a retired Australian athlete. She was a professional triathlete, which means she competed in races that combine swimming, cycling, and running. Emma won a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She also won gold medals at the ITU Triathlon World Championships in 2009 and 2010. Emma was born in Moree, New South Wales, and grew up in Woolgoolga, a town in northern New South Wales.

Emma's Early Life and Sports
From a young age, Emma loved sports. She took part in cross country running, athletics, and surf lifesaving. When she was a teenager, Emma started doing triathlons and was very good at them. Her three brothers and sisters, along with her parents, also competed in triathlons. Her older sister, Nicole, was a champion in surf lifesaving, which involves swimming, board paddling, and surf ski paddling.
Education and Awards
Before attending the Australian Institute of Sport, Emma went to Woolgoolga High School. She received a scholarship from the Australian Institute of Sport, which helps talented athletes. Emma was named Triathlon Australia's athlete of the year twice, in 2007 and 2012. In 2009, she was also named the Australian Institute of Sport's athlete of the year.
Olympic and Commonwealth Games Moments
Emma Moffatt was chosen to represent Australia at the London 2012 Olympics. The triathlon event took place in and around Hyde Park, with the swimming part in the Serpentine lake. Sadly, Emma had a bad fall during the cycling part of the race and could not finish.
In another race, on July 1, 2012, she came second in the 10-kilometer run at the Gold Coast Marathon event in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. She finished just behind another runner, Lisa Jane Weightman.
At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Emma was part of the Australian mixed relay team. This team won a bronze medal for their country.
