Emma Slater (born on December 25, 1988) is a talented British-American professional dancer and choreographer. She is best known for her exciting performances on the popular TV show, Dancing with the Stars.

Emma Slater's Early Life

Emma grew up in Tamworth, Staffordshire, England. From a young age, she loved performing and joined local stage schools. She has a twin sister named Kelly, who works as a costume designer and stylist on Dancing with the Stars.

When Emma was 10, she began training in ballroom and Latin styles. She quickly became very good, winning many competitions across England in her early years.

At 15, Emma appeared in a music video for George Michael called "Round Here." Later that same year, she was also featured in a fitness video called "Latinasize."

Emma Slater's Personal Life

Emma Slater was married to fellow Dancing with the Stars dancer Sasha Farber. They dated for some time before getting married on March 25, 2018. In December 2020, Emma also became an American citizen. The couple later separated in April 2022.

Emma Slater's Competitive Dancing Career

Emma has won many dance titles. In 2005, when she was 16, she won the British Under 21 Latin American Championships. The next year, she won the United Kingdom Under 21 Latin American Championships. Emma was ranked among the top 10 dancers in the world and represented the UK in competitions all over the globe.

Emma Slater in Theatre Shows

At 16, Emma joined a popular theatre show called 'Simply Ballroom'. This show toured the UK, including London's famous West End, and also traveled to the United Arab Emirates and South Africa. While in South Africa, Emma even appeared on 'Dancing with the South African Stars'.

After 'Simply Ballroom', Emma performed in other West End shows in London. These included 'Dirty Dancing', where she was a main Latin dancer, and 'Cheek to Cheek' and 'Latin Fever'.

In 2009, Emma joined the stage show 'Burn the Floor'. She toured with this show in China, and then performed on Broadway in New York City. 'Burn the Floor' also took her on a world tour to places like Belgium, Australia, Japan, and Canada.

Emma Slater in Mamma Mia!

In 2008, Emma Slater was featured in the Universal Pictures movie Mamma Mia!. This movie starred famous actors like Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth. Emma also sang on the movie's soundtrack, which was nominated for a Grammy Award. The music for the film was produced by the famous group ABBA.

Emma Slater on Dancing with the Stars

In March 2012, Emma joined the American TV show Dancing with the Stars for its fourteenth season. She started as a troupe dancer, helping with the opening dance numbers and choreography.

Later that year, she helped choreograph a performance for the singer Usher at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas.

After three seasons as a troupe member, Emma became one of the main professional dancers for the show's seventeenth season in September 2013. Her first celebrity partner was comedian and actor Bill Engvall. Even though they often received lower scores from the judges, they made it to the finals and finished in 4th place!

For season 18, Emma danced with actor Billy Dee Williams. They had to leave the competition early in Week 3 because Billy Dee had a back injury. In season 19, she was paired with race-car driver Michael Waltrip, and they finished in 7th place.

Emma returned for season 23 with former Texas governor Rick Perry. They were eliminated in week 3, finishing in 12th place.

Her big moment came in season 24 when she was paired with NFL running back Rashad Jennings. Together, they won the competition on May 23, 2017! This was Emma's first win on the show, and she was the first British person to win Dancing with the Stars.

For season 25, Emma danced with realtor Drew Scott from Property Brothers. They made it to the finals and finished in 4th place.

In season 26, she was paired with former MLB player Johnny Damon. They were eliminated in the first week. For season 27, she danced with actor and singer John Schneider, finishing in 7th place.

Emma also mentored a team on Dancing With The Stars Jrs., a version for younger dancers. She worked with actor Jason Maybaum and pro Elliana Walmsley.

In season 28, Emma was paired with actor James Van Der Beek. They were strong contenders, getting high scores, but were eliminated in the semi-finals, finishing in 5th place.

For season 29, she danced with former NBA player Charles Oakley. They were the first couple to be eliminated, finishing in 15th place.

In season 30, Emma was paired with country singer Jimmie Allen, finishing in 7th place. For season 31, she danced with actor and model Trevor Donovan, reaching the semi-finals and finishing 6th.

Most recently, in season 33, Emma was partnered with actor Reginald VelJohnson. They finished in 10th place.
