Jimmie Allen (born on June 18, 1985) is an American country music singer and songwriter. He became famous for his hit songs like "Best Shot" and "Make Me Want To". In 2021, he won the Country Music Association Award for New Artist of the Year. He was the second Black artist to win this award, after Darius Rucker in 2009.

Jimmie Allen's Early Life and Dreams
Jimmie Allen was born in Milton, Delaware, United States. In 2007, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, a big city known for country music. For several years, Jimmie had a tough time. He was often poor and sometimes even lived in his car.
He tried out for the TV show American Idol in its tenth season. He didn't make it to the final live shows, but he did perform with Colton Dixon. He also became friends with Scotty McCreery, who won the show that year. Later, Jimmie and Scotty toured together after Jimmie's first album came out.
Jimmie Allen's Music Career
Jimmie Allen signed a deal with Wide Open Music in 2016. This company helps songwriters. The singer-songwriter Ash Bowers started Wide Open Music.
In 2017, Jimmie showed his talent to people from Broken Bow Records. They quickly signed him to their Stoney Creek label. He then released his first collection of songs, called an EP, which was named Jimmie Allen. Ash Bowers helped produce this EP. Music experts said his sound was like other popular country artists such as Thomas Rhett and Sam Hunt.
First Hit Songs and Albums
Jimmie's first official song, "Best Shot", came out in early 2018. It quickly became popular on country radio. The song was inspired by his grandmother and his son. It reached the top of the Billboard Country Airplay chart in November 2018. This made him the first Black artist to have his first song reach number one on that chart.
His first full album, Mercury Lane, was released in October 2018. The album was named after the street where Jimmie grew up. The second song from the album, "Make Me Want To", also became a number one hit in 2019.
In May 2019, Jimmie recorded a cover of "Shallow" with Abby Anderson. This song was originally by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.
New Music and Awards
In 2020, Jimmie Allen released "This Is Us," a duet with Noah Cyrus. This song was part of his new EP, Bettie James, which came out in July 2020. Another song from this project was "Freedom Was a Highway," a duet with Brad Paisley. This song became Jimmie's third number one hit in February 2022.
Jimmie made history again in 2021. He became the first Black solo artist to win New Male Artist of the Year at the ACM Awards. He also performed with Brad Paisley at the event.
In September 2021, Jimmie joined the TV show Dancing with the Stars. He and his partner Emma Slater finished in 7th place. On November 10, 2021, he won New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards. He also performed at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade that same month. In 2022, Jimmie was a guest mentor on American Idol.
Jimmie also sang on other artists' songs, like "Don't You Wanna Know" by Noah Schnacky and "Easy" with Nick Carter.
His third album, Tulip Drive, was released on June 24, 2022. The first song from this album was "Down Home," released in March 2022. In 2023, Jimmie was a coach on the TV show My Kind of Country.
Jimmie Allen's Personal Life
Jimmie Allen married Alexis Gale in 2021. They had been dating for two years. Jimmie had a son from a previous relationship, and Alexis was expecting their first child together when they got married. In April 2023, Jimmie shared that he and Alexis were separating. They were also expecting their third child together.
In June 2023, Jimmie Allen's record label, Broken Bow, stopped working with him. This happened after some legal issues were reported.
