Emmett Jones is a well-known American football coach. He currently works at the University of Oklahoma. There, he teaches players how to be great wide receivers. He also helps plan the team's passing plays. Before this, he coached for the Kansas Jayhawks football and Texas Tech football teams. He joined the Oklahoma Sooners in January 2023.

Emmett Jones' Coaching Journey
Emmett Jones has coached football teams for many years. He started coaching high school teams. Later, he moved on to coach college teams.
Starting Out: High School Coaching
Jones began his coaching career at his old high school, Seagoville High School, in 2001. He stayed there until 2004. In 2005, he joined the staff at Dallas Lincoln High School.
From 2006 to 2011, Jones worked at Skyline High School in Dallas. He started as a wide receivers coach. Later, he became the team's offensive coordinator. This means he was in charge of planning the team's offensive plays.
First Head Coaching Role
Emmett Jones got his first chance to be a head coach at South Oak Cliff High School. He led the team for three seasons. Under his coaching, the Golden Bears had a great record of 30 wins and only 8 losses. His teams also went far in the Class 4A and 5A playoffs each year.
Coaching College Football: Texas Tech (First Time)
In 2015, Jones moved to college football. He joined Texas Tech as the Director of Player Development. This role helps players grow and improve.
In 2016, Coach Kliff Kingsbury promoted Jones. He became the wide receivers coach for Texas Tech. He held this important position until 2018.
Coaching at Kansas
From 2019, Emmett Jones worked as the wide receivers coach for the Kansas Jayhawks. He helped their receivers get better.
In 2020, he also became the passing game coordinator for Kansas. This meant he had more responsibility for the team's passing plays. After head coach Les Miles left, Jones even served as the interim head coach for a short time in 2021.
Back to Texas Tech
In December 2021, Jones returned to Texas Tech. He took on the role of passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach. He continued to help players improve their skills.
Joining the Oklahoma Sooners
In January 2023, Emmett Jones moved to the Oklahoma Sooners. He is now their wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator. He continues to help college players succeed in football.

Emmett Jones is married to Marlo. They have two children: a daughter named Emily and a son named Emmett III.
