Emmy Raver-Lampman (born Emily Christine Raver Lampman on September 5, 1988) is an American actress and singer. She is well-known for her exciting roles in both live theater and popular TV shows.
Emmy started her career in musical theater, performing in big Broadway shows and national tours. Some of these famous shows include Hair, Wicked, and Hamilton. Later, she became super popular for playing Allison Hargreeves in the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy.

Early life and education
Emmy Raver-Lampman grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. She was adopted when she was a baby. Her mom, Sharon, is a professor at Old Dominion University, and her dad, Greg, is a writer and teacher. Emmy was an only child and traveled a lot when she was young. She even lived in countries like the Czech Republic, Ukraine, and India because of her mom's work! She also has a younger half-sister.
Emmy went to a special high school for performing arts called Governor's School for the Arts. She also attended Maury High in Norfolk. After high school, she studied at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. She started acting professionally while still in college. She even took a break from her studies to perform in a production of Hair. But she went back to college and earned her degree in Theater in 2012.

Musical theatre journey
Emmy's career began in musical theater, which combines singing, dancing, and acting in a live show. Her very first professional role was in a play called Children of Eden in May 2010. She got a main role in this show while she was still in college!
After that, she joined the national tour of Hair in 2010. This helped her get her Equity card, which is important for professional actors. In summer 2011, Hair came to Broadway, and Emmy made her big Broadway debut!
Later, Emmy joined the national tour of Jekyll & Hyde. She was part of the group of performers called the ensemble and also learned the main role of Lucy Harris as an understudy. This show also moved to Broadway in 2013.
In 2013, Emmy was cast in another Broadway show, A Night with Janis Joplin. She was a "swing," meaning she learned many different parts and could fill in when needed. After this, she joined the first U.S. tour of the musical Wicked. In Wicked, she was a standby for the lead role of Elphaba, the green witch!
Becoming part of Hamilton
In 2015, Emmy auditioned for Hamilton, which was a brand-new musical at the time. She was cast in the original Broadway ensemble! This meant she was one of the first actors to perform in this super popular show. She also learned the parts for all three main female roles: Angelica, Eliza, and Peggy/Maria Reynolds. Hamilton opened in August 2015 and became a huge hit.
Emmy later left the Broadway production of Hamilton in April 2016. She then joined the Chicago production of Hamilton and later the show's first national tour, where she starred as Angelica. She toured with the show until the end of 2017.
In 2020, Emmy also co-starred in a new musical called Gun & Powder in Virginia.
Film and television roles
Emmy got her first major TV role in 2017. She was cast as Allison Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy on Netflix. She starred alongside actors like Elliot Page and Tom Hopper. The show became very popular, with over 45 million viewers in 2019! Emmy filmed the second season in 2019, and it came out in July 2020.
In 2019, she also had guest roles in TV shows like A Million Little Things and Jane the Virgin.
Voice acting and movies
In July 2020, Emmy took over the voice role of Molly Tillerman in the Apple TV+ series Central Park. She voiced Molly in the second season of the show.
Emmy has also appeared in several movies. She played Mira Jones in Blacklight and FBI Agent Verona Parker in The Beekeeper.
Personal life
Emmy Raver-Lampman is in a relationship with actor Daveed Diggs. They met in 2015 when they were both performing in Hamilton! They welcomed their first child in March 2024.
