Enköping Municipality (Enköpings kommun) is a special area in Uppsala County in east central Sweden. It's like a local government area. The main town, or "seat," of this municipality is Enköping.

How Enköping Municipality Was Formed
The Enköping Municipality we know today was created in 1971. Before that, there were almost forty smaller local government areas. These smaller areas were first grouped into bigger ones in 1952. Then, in 1971, the City of Enköping joined together with five areas around it to form the current municipality.

Sports in Enköping
One of the most well-known sports teams from Enköping is the football (soccer) team, Enköpings SK. They even played in Sweden's top league, Allsvenskan, in 2003! However, sports can be tough, and the team now plays in a lower division. Their home stadium is called Enavallen, and it's right in the middle of Enköping.
