Eolia is a small village in Pike County, Missouri, United States. In 2020, about 472 people lived there. It is a quiet place with a rich history.
History of Eolia
Eolia was officially planned and marked out in 1881. This happened along a new railroad line. The village got its name from Aeolus. In ancient Greek stories, Aeolus was the ruler of the winds. The person who surveyed the land picked this name because it was a very windy day.
A post office has been open in Eolia since 1881. This means people have been sending and receiving mail there for a long time.
Two important places in Eolia are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These are the Griffith–McCune Farmstead Historic District and St. John's Episcopal Church. Being on this list means they are special and protected because of their history.
Geography of Eolia
Eolia is located right next to US Route 61. This is a major highway. It is also just half a mile north of the line between Pike County and Lincoln County.
