Eric Charles Brewer (born April 17, 1979) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played as a defenceman in the National Hockey League (NHL). Eric played for several teams during his career. These included the Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, St. Louis Blues, Edmonton Oilers, and New York Islanders. A big highlight of his career was winning a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Eric Brewer's Hockey Journey
Before joining the NHL, Eric Brewer played for three seasons. He was part of the Prince George Cougars in the Western Hockey League. This is a major junior hockey league in Canada.
Starting in the NHL
Eric was a very talented young player. The New York Islanders picked him as the 5th overall player in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. This meant he was one of the top young players chosen that year. He played his very first NHL game for the Islanders on October 10, 1998. This game was against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Not long after, on November 5, 1998, Eric scored his first NHL goal. He scored it against Trevor Kidd, who was playing for the Carolina Hurricanes.
Moving to New Teams
In 2000, Eric moved to the Edmonton Oilers. He played two seasons with them. He also spent one season with their minor league team, the Lowell Lock Monsters.
After the 2004-05 NHL season was cancelled due to a lockout, Eric joined the St. Louis Blues. He played for the Blues for six seasons. Later, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He signed a big contract with the Lightning in 2011.
Later Career and Retirement
On November 28, 2014, Eric was traded again. This time, he joined the Anaheim Ducks. He played his final NHL season with the Ducks before retiring in 2015. Eric Brewer had a long and successful career in professional hockey.
