Eric Daniel Djemba-Djemba is a former professional footballer from Cameroon. He was born on May 4, 1981. Eric played as a midfielder for many different clubs around the world. He played in countries like France, England, Qatar, and India. He also proudly represented his home country, Cameroon, in international games. He played 34 times for Cameroon, including in the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Eric Djemba-Djemba's Football Journey
Starting Out in France
Eric Djemba-Djemba first became well-known while playing for Nantes in France. He was a strong and tough player who was good at tackling. His great skills caught the eye of big clubs. In 2003, he moved to Manchester United in England.
Playing for Manchester United
When Eric joined Manchester United, he quickly showed his strong playing style. He made his first appearance against Arsenal. During his time at Old Trafford, Eric found it a bit hard to play consistently.
One exciting moment for him was scoring a goal against Leeds United in the League Cup. The score was tied, and with only three minutes left, Eric scored a fantastic goal. This helped Manchester United win 3-2. He scored one more goal for the team in a UEFA Champions League match.
Moving to Aston Villa
In January 2005, Eric moved to Aston Villa. However, he still found it tough to get a regular spot in the team. He played only a few times for Aston Villa.
Loan to Burnley
In January 2007, Eric was loaned to Burnley, a team in the Championship league. He played his first game for Burnley on January 13, 2007. Even though he was sent off in one game, he showed good skills during his time there. After his loan, Eric left Aston Villa.
Playing in Qatar and Denmark
After leaving Aston Villa, Eric joined Qatar SC in Qatar. He played there for one season and started to get his football career back on track.
On July 16, 2008, Eric signed a three-year contract with OB in Denmark. He even played against his old club, Aston Villa, in a cup game. Eric impressed the fans at Odense with his good ball control and strong performances. Many people thought he was one of the best players in the Danish league. He even made a famous assist using his sock when his boot came off!
Adventures in Israel and Serbia
In August 2012, Eric signed a two-year contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel. He played 28 league games for the team.
The next year, in July 2013, Eric joined Partizan in Serbia. He made his first appearance in a Champions League qualifying match. However, he did not play much for Partizan during that season. His contract with the club ended in December 2013.
Short Stays in Scotland and India
On February 5, 2014, Eric signed a short-term deal with St Mirren in Scotland. He hoped this move would help him get a spot on the Cameroon team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The manager of St Mirren called him the club's biggest signing. Eric played only three games for St Mirren and was released at the end of the season. He also did not make it to the World Cup squad.
In October 2014, Eric signed a short-term deal with Chennaiyin in the Indian Super League.
Later Career and Retirement
In February 2015, Eric joined Bhayangkara FC in Indonesia. However, the league was stopped before he could play any games. In 2016, Eric joined Châteaubriant, a club in the fifth division of French football.
In September 2021, Eric Djemba-Djemba announced that he was retiring from playing professional football.
International Career for Cameroon
Eric Djemba-Djemba was an important member of the Cameroon national team. He helped his country win the 2002 African Nations Cup. He also played in the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup, where Cameroon finished second. Eric was part of the team that played in the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
He was not chosen for the 2010 FIFA World Cup or the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Eric Djemba-Djemba was born in Douala, Cameroon. He has both Cameroonian and French citizenship. He became a French citizen in 2001. Eric is a Christian.
