Eric Sutton's Early Life

Eric Sutton was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. His father, also named Eric Sutton, was playing football for the Saskatchewan Roughriders at the time. Eric spent his early childhood in Los Angeles with his mother.

Later, he moved to Miami when he was in middle school. This is where he first started playing football. When he was in tenth grade, Eric moved again to Dallas. The excellent coaching he received there helped him dream of becoming a professional football player.

College Football Journey

Eric Sutton played college football before turning professional. College football is a big step for many young athletes.

Playing for SMU Mustangs

From 2016 to 2019, Eric played for the SMU Mustangs. He played in 37 games during this time. He even started in five of those games. Eric made 45 tackles and played a lot on special teams, which are important parts of the game. In 2019, he got injured. This allowed him to take a redshirt season, which means he could take a year off from playing but still keep his college eligibility for another year.

Time with Texas State Bobcats

In 2020, Eric decided to transfer to Texas State University. He wanted to play more as a nickelback, a specific defensive position. However, he did not play in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
