Erick Sermon (born November 25, 1968) is a famous American rapper and music producer. He is well-known for being part of the hip hop group EPMD in the 1980s and 1990s. He also produced many hit songs for other artists.

Early Life and Beginnings
Erick Sermon was born on November 25, 1968. His hometown is Bay Shore on Long Island, New York.
Erick Sermon's Music Career
Sermon started his professional music journey in 1986. He was a producer and artist for the hip hop group EPMD. He began releasing his own solo albums in 1993 with Def Jam. Later, in 1997, he rejoined EPMD.
The next year, Sermon, Keith Murray, and Redman recorded a new version of "Rapper's Delight". This was a famous song by the Sugarhill Gang. EPMD then separated again in 1999.
Solo Success and New Labels
In 2000, Sermon moved to J Records. He released his album Music in 2001. The first song from the album, also called "Music", featured vocals from the legendary Marvin Gaye. Sermon found these recordings in a small record shop in London.
"Music" became Sermon's most successful song. It reached number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also hit number 2 on the R&B music chart.
Sermon's second album with J Records, React, came out in 2002. The main song, "React", reached number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100. However, the album did not sell well, and Sermon left the label in 2003.
New Ventures and Collaborations
After leaving J Records, Sermon started his own music label called Def Squad. It worked with Universal Records. He released his sixth solo album, Chilltown, New York, in 2004. The song "Feel It" from this album became a hit in the United States. It used a sample from reggae and R&B singer Sean Paul.
Sermon once said he wanted to help new artists get noticed. But he has stayed active in the music industry. In 2006, he produced the song "Goldmine" for Busta Rhymes' album, The Big Bang.
He also recorded "Don't Make No Sense" with his group Def Squad. Sermon worked with Redman again. He produced several songs on Redman's album Red Gone Wild. He also appeared on the album with fellow Def Squad member Keith Murray.
In early 2008, Sermon and his EPMD partner started their own record label. It was called EP Records. The seventh EPMD album, We Mean Business, was released in December 2008.
Sermon was also featured in the very last episode of Yo! MTV Raps. He participated in a freestyle session with other famous artists.
In 2018, Sermon teamed up with Lost Boyz member Mr Cheeks and broadcaster Ryan Verneuille. He became an executive producer for their radio show, "The Ryan Show". Sermon is also part of Tracklib's Creators Advisory Board.
Personal Life and Health
On September 25, 2001, Sermon had an accident. He was injured after falling from a building. Later, on November 12, 2011, he experienced a health issue. He recovered well from it.
