About Erika Radermacher
Erika Radermacher was born in Eschweiler, a town close to Aachen, Germany. She started her music journey by studying with famous teachers. She learned piano from Else Schmitz-Gohr in Cologne and Bruno Seidlhofer in Vienna. She also studied singing with Sylvia Gähwiller in Zurich.
After finishing her studies, Erika Radermacher performed all over Europe. She played music by herself as a soloist. She also played with other musicians as a chamber musician.
Life and Teaching Career
Erika Radermacher married Urs Peter Schneider, who was also a musician. They made their home in Bern and Biel, Switzerland. In Bern, she taught music at the Conservatory of Music. She also sang as a soprano with a group called the Ensemble Neue Horizonte Bern.
After 1970, Erika Radermacher became very interested in writing her own music. She started focusing more on composition. Today, she teaches piano at the Bern University of Arts. She also teaches piano, music theory, and improvisation in Sofia, Bulgaria.
