Erlanger is a city located in Kenton County, Kentucky, in the United States. It's a "home rule-class city," which means it has its own local government. In 2020, about 19,611 people lived there. Erlanger is also part of the larger Cincinnati area, which includes parts of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.

History of Erlanger
Erlanger was started in the 1880s. The city got its name from a banking family in Paris, France, called Emile Erlanger & Co.. The founder, Baron Frédéric Émile d'Erlanger, helped pay for the early growth of the town.
Today, people in Erlanger say the name in an American way. It doesn't sound like French or German. A nearby place called Elsmere used to be known as "South Erlanger."
Geography of Erlanger
Erlanger covers a total area of about 8.4 square miles (22 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 8.3 square miles (21.7 square kilometers), is land. A small part, about 0.1 square miles (0.44 square kilometers), is water. This means the city is mostly land, with very little water.
Erlanger's Population and People
In the year 2000, there were 16,676 people living in Erlanger. These people lived in 6,597 homes, and 4,406 of these were families. The city had about 2,002 people per square mile (773 people per square kilometer).
The people living in Erlanger come from many different backgrounds. In 2000, about 60% of the people were White. About 27% were African American. There were also smaller groups of Native American, Asian, and Pacific Islander people. About 10% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino. There is also a small Mauritanian community in the city.

Neighborhoods of Erlanger
Erlanger has many different neighborhoods within its city limits. Each area has its own unique feel.

- North Central Erlanger: This neighborhood is located from Erlanger Road and Riggs Avenue to Rosary Drive.
