Nur Ernie Shahirah binti Zakri (born on June 23, 1992) is a talented Malaysian singer, actress, and vocal teacher. She became famous after winning a big national singing contest called Bintang RTM in 2009. Ernie also won the Best Vocals award at the Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL 32) in 2018 with her singing partner, Syamel Fodzly. Besides singing, she taught music for two years at the Bentley Music Academy.

Early Life and Education

Ernie was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her mother is Rafiaah Mohamed, and her father is Zakri Ahmad, who is a drummer. Her aunts and uncles are also famous singers, like Ziana Zain and Anuar Zain.

Ernie went to SMK (P) Methodist in Kuala Lumpur. She later earned a degree in Music from Universiti Teknologi MARA Shah Alam. She also has a Master's degree in Music from University of Malaya. This shows she studied music very seriously!

Ernie's Amazing Voice

Ernie Zakri has a very strong and clear singing voice. Her voice type is called a Lyrical Soprano. This means she can sing high notes beautifully and with a lot of emotion. She is known for her powerful and controlled vocals.

Ernie's Journey to Stardom

When Ernie was just 17, she joined Bintang RTM 2009. This was a national singing competition. She won the contest, becoming the youngest winner ever! In the final show, she sang two songs, "Cahaya" and "Kau Yang Teristimewa".

In 2011, Ernie released her first album called Sinaran. She also released two songs from the album, "Mahu Ingin Bercinta" and "Rindu Bukan Teman". Even though she worked hard, these songs didn't become very popular at first.

Becoming a Duo Star

In 2017, Ernie teamed up with Syamel Fodzly for a TV singing competition called Duo Star. They sang songs like "Balqis" by Dato' Sri Siti Nurhaliza. They also performed "Kau Lupa Pada Janji" by Dato' Jamal Abdillah. Ernie and Syamel won the competition!

After winning, they released their first duet song, "Aku Cinta". This song became very popular. It helped Ernie become well-known in the music world. In 2018, "Aku Cinta" made it to the finals of Anugerah Juara Lagu. Ernie and Syamel won the Best Vocals award for their amazing singing. Later in 2018, Ernie released her own song, "Ku Bersuara".

More Success and Acting

Because their partnership was so successful, Ernie and Syamel released another duet song, "Takkan Terlerai," in 2019. Ernie also lent her voice to the animated movie Upin & Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal. She voiced the characters Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih.

Ernie also started acting! Her first TV show was Suri Katriana, which aired on Astro Prima. In November 2019, her song "Ku Bersuara" was chosen for the 34th Anugerah Juara Lagu finals. In 2020, her song "Gundah" also reached the finals of Anugerah Juara Lagu 35. On March 14, 2021, she won the Best Vocal award for AJL 35. This was her second time winning this award! People started calling her the "Queen of Vocal Malaysia."

Ernie's Personal Life

Ernie married fellow singer Syameel Aqmal Mohd Fodzly on March 22, 2021. They got married at Puncak Alam Mosque in Selangor. The couple welcomed their daughter, Nur Khawla Soleha, on February 22, 2022.
