Ersan İlyasova (born May 15, 1987) is a Turkish former professional basketball player. He played for 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He spent nine of those seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks. He also played basketball in Turkey and Spain.

Ersan's Basketball Journey
Early Career in Turkey
Ersan İlyasova started his professional basketball career in Turkey. He played for a team called Yeşilyurt during the 2003–04 season. This was in Turkey's second-tier league.
The next season, 2004–05, he moved up to the Turkish Basketball League. He played for Ülkerspor. In 11 games, he averaged 4.5 points and 3.2 rebounds.
Joining the NBA: Milwaukee Bucks (First Time)
In 2005, Ersan was chosen by the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA draft. He was the 36th player picked overall. He joined the Bucks for the NBA Summer League in July 2005.
He signed with the Bucks in August 2005. Later that year, he was sent to the Tulsa 66ers. This team is part of the NBA Development League. He played the entire 2005–06 season there. He averaged 12.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in 46 games.
Ersan made his official NBA debut for the Bucks on November 1, 2006. The Bucks won that game against the Detroit Pistons. During the 2006–07 season, he played 66 games for the Bucks. He averaged 6.1 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.
Playing in Spain: FC Barcelona
In July 2007, Ersan signed a two-year contract with FC Barcelona. This is a famous basketball team in Spain's Liga ACB. In 2009, he helped Barcelona win a championship.
Back to the Milwaukee Bucks (Second Time)
After playing in Spain, Ersan returned to the Milwaukee Bucks. He signed a new contract with them in July 2009.
Short Break in Turkey: Anadolu Efes
In August 2011, Ersan played for Anadolu Efes in Turkey. This was during an NBA lockout, which meant NBA games were temporarily stopped.
Milwaukee Bucks (Third Time) and Big Games
When the NBA lockout ended in December 2011, Ersan went back to the Bucks. On February 19, 2012, he had an amazing game against the New Jersey Nets. He scored 29 points and grabbed 25 rebounds. This was a career-high for him in both categories. He was only the third Bucks player ever to get at least 25 points and 25 rebounds in one game.
He signed another multi-year deal with the Bucks in July 2012. In March 2014, he had to stop playing for the rest of the season due to an ankle injury. On March 26, 2015, Ersan scored a career-high 34 points. This helped the Bucks win against the Indiana Pacers.
Moving Around the NBA
Ersan was traded to the Detroit Pistons in June 2015. He played his first game for them in October, scoring 16 points. In February 2016, he was traded again, this time to the Orlando Magic. He played his first game for the Magic the next day, scoring 16 points.
Later in June 2016, Ersan was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He played only three games for them at the start of the 2016–17 season.
Philadelphia 76ers (First Time)
In November 2016, Ersan was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. He made his debut for them the next day, scoring 14 points. He had several strong games for the 76ers. On January 29, 2017, he scored a season-high 31 points against the Chicago Bulls.
Atlanta Hawks
Ersan was traded again in February 2017, joining the Atlanta Hawks. He re-signed with the Hawks in July 2017. He was later released by the Hawks in February 2018.
Philadelphia 76ers (Second Time)
In February 2018, Ersan signed with the Philadelphia 76ers again. This was his second time playing for the team.
Milwaukee Bucks (Fourth Time)
Ersan signed with the Milwaukee Bucks for a third time in July 2018. This was his fourth time playing for the Bucks in his career. In December 2018, he had surgery for a fractured nose. He was released by the Bucks in November 2020.
Utah Jazz
In March 2021, Ersan signed with the Utah Jazz for the rest of the season. On April 17, he scored a season-high 20 points for the Jazz. In December 2021, he signed a short contract with the Chicago Bulls. However, he did not play for them before his contract ended.

Playing for Turkey's National Team
Before joining the main Turkey national basketball team, Ersan was a star for Turkey's junior team. He was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2006 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. He led his team to a silver medal in that tournament.
Ersan has played for Turkey in many big international competitions. These include the FIBA World Championship in 2006 and 2010. He also played in several EuroBasket tournaments.
Ersan's Family Life
Ersan İlyasova's parents, Anvar and Iraliye İlyasova, are Crimean Tatars. He is married to Julia, who is from Belarus. They have two daughters and one son. All of their children were born in Milwaukee. Ersan is a Muslim.
A Note on Ersan's Age and Background
There was some discussion about Ersan's age and where he was born when he was younger. However, the international basketball organization, FIBA, looked into it. They officially decided that Ersan İlyasova is a Turkish citizen.
