Erwin Lamond Dudley (born October 2, 1981) is an American basketball player who also has Turkish citizenship. In Turkey, he is known as Ersin Dağlı. He played as a professional basketball player for many years, including for Sakarya BB in the Turkish Basketball Super League (BSL).

College Basketball Career

Erwin Dudley was born in Uniontown, Alabama. He went to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. During his time playing college basketball, he became very well known.

Dudley's College Achievements

Dudley was named an All-American by the Associated Press. This means he was recognized as one of the best college basketball players in the country. He was also named the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Year in 2002. The SEC is a major college sports league.

He was also chosen for the All-SEC First Team, which means he was one of the top players in the conference. Dudley led the Southeastern Conference in getting rebounds for three years in a row. This was a big deal because only one other player, Shaquille O'Neal, had done that before him.

Records at Alabama

Erwin Dudley holds a school record at the University of Alabama for starting 129 games in his career. He is also seventh in scoring for the school, with 1,764 points. He is fourth in rebounding, with 1,184 rebounds. Dudley also had 43 "double-doubles" in his career. A double-double is when a player gets double-digit numbers in two different stats, like points and rebounds, in one game. Because of this, his nickname was "E-double double."

Professional Basketball Journey

Erwin Dudley missed the 2003–2004 basketball season because of a knee injury. He was supposed to play for a team in Italy called Basket Rimini Crabs.

Early Professional Years

In 2004, Dudley began his professional career with Maccabi Rishon LeZion in Israel. He started in 22 games and played very well. He averaged almost 20 points and 12 rebounds per game.

In 2005, he moved to Turkey and joined Türk Telekom in Ankara. He played 34 games and averaged 17.1 points and 8.4 rebounds. He stayed with Türk Telekom and continued to play strongly. In 2006, he averaged 16.1 points and 8.8 rebounds in the Turkish Basketball League. He also played in the FIBA EuroCup, another basketball competition, where he averaged 21.4 points and 6.8 rebounds.

Winning Championships in Turkey

After five seasons with Türk Telekom, Dudley signed with Efes Pilsen in 2010. In 2011, he joined Beşiktaş. With Beşiktaş, he helped the team win several big titles. They won the Turkish Basketball League, the Turkish Cup, and the EuroChallenge.

In July 2012, he signed with Galatasaray Liv Hospital. Then, in July 2014, he joined another Turkish team, Darüşşafaka. On November 16, 2017, he signed with Sakarya BB for the rest of the 2017–18 BSL season.

Personal Life

Erwin Dudley is the son of Patricia Dudley and Otis Hunter II. He has a daughter named LaDaisha. In August 2011, he welcomed twins, Talia and Ej.

Because he played for Türk Telekom for three years in a row, Erwin Dudley was able to apply for Turkish citizenship. On December 17, 2008, he officially became a Turkish citizen. The 2009–10 basketball season was his first time playing as a Turkish citizen. Erwin Dudley still has both American and Turkish citizenship today.
