College Basketball Career
Erwin Dudley was born in Uniontown, Alabama. He went to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. During his time playing college basketball, he became very well known.
Dudley's College Achievements
Dudley was named an All-American by the Associated Press. This means he was recognized as one of the best college basketball players in the country. He was also named the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Year in 2002. The SEC is a major college sports league.
He was also chosen for the All-SEC First Team, which means he was one of the top players in the conference. Dudley led the Southeastern Conference in getting rebounds for three years in a row. This was a big deal because only one other player, Shaquille O'Neal, had done that before him.
Records at Alabama
Erwin Dudley holds a school record at the University of Alabama for starting 129 games in his career. He is also seventh in scoring for the school, with 1,764 points. He is fourth in rebounding, with 1,184 rebounds. Dudley also had 43 "double-doubles" in his career. A double-double is when a player gets double-digit numbers in two different stats, like points and rebounds, in one game. Because of this, his nickname was "E-double double."
