Estrella's Musical Journey
Estrella Morente loved flamenco singers like La Niña de los Peines and Camarón de la Isla from a young age. She began singing folk songs when she was just four years old. At age seven, she sang a taranta (a type of traditional sailor's song) with the famous guitarist Sabicas.
Her amazing talent has impressed many flamenco experts and even rock stars like Lenny Kravitz. Estrella first sang on stage at the Alpine Ski Championships in Sierra Nevada when she was only 16. She also sang on her father Enrique Morente's album, Omega.
The well-known singer Carmen Linares introduced Estrella at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville. This was part of a special event honoring La Argentinita, a famous Spanish-Argentinian dancer and singer.
Successful Albums
Estrella's first album, "Mi cante y un poema," featured traditional flamenco songs. It sold so many copies that it became a platinum record! Her second album, "Calle del aire," included popular and Christmas songs and earned a gold record.
Because her albums were so successful, Estrella has performed at many important music events. These include the Seville Biennial, the Barcelona Guitar Festival, and the Granada International Music and Dance Festival.
In 2004, she performed a concert in Granada called "Estrella 1922." This show was a tribute to Pastora Pavón, also known as La Niña de los Peines, a singer from Seville. The concert was recorded live for a later release.
In 2005, Estrella performed for the first time at the Barbican Centre in London. She also started a series of concerts with her father, Enrique, for the International Festival of the Guitar of Córdoba. That same year, the "Estrella 1922" show also premiered at the Teatro Español in Madrid.
