Etowah is a small town located in Mississippi County, Arkansas, in the United States. In 2020, about 254 people lived there. This number was a bit lower than the 351 people who lived there in 2010.
Geography
Etowah is found in the western part of Mississippi County. The town is mainly located along Arkansas Highway 136. It is about 10 miles northeast of Lepanto. It is also about 14 miles south of Manila. The town is 17 miles west of Osceola, which is the main city of the county.
The town's borders reach south to Arkansas Highway 140. They also go east to Arkansas Highway 77. A part of the Little River flows through the southeastern area of Etowah.
The town of Etowah covers a total area of about 5.9 square miles. Only a very small part of this area, about 0.005 square miles, is water.

In 2010, there were 351 people living in Etowah. Most of the people, about 89.5%, were White. About 1.1% were Black, and 0.3% were Asian. Around 2.0% of the people were from two or more races. About 7.1% of the population was Hispanic or Latino.
Back in 2000, there were 366 people in Etowah. These people lived in 137 households. About 106 of these households were families. The town had about 24 people per square kilometer. There were 153 houses in total.
In 2000, about 36.5% of households had children under 18. Most households, 60.6%, were married couples. About 11.7% had a female head of household with no husband. Around 18.2% of households were single individuals. About 6.6% of people lived alone and were 65 or older.

Education
The Manila School District is in charge of the public schools in the Etowah area. The original Etowah School District joined with the Manila district on July 1, 1986. The school board in Etowah had asked for this merger.
Some people in Etowah wanted to join the Lepanto School District instead. This led to a lawsuit to try and stop the merger. However, the court in Mississippi County decided to support the merger with the Manila district.
