Early Life and First Steps

Ettore Bassi loved magic from a young age. He even studied to become a magician! He started working as an animator in places where tourists stayed, entertaining people. When he was 19, he began training to be an actor at the Tangram Teatro di Torino.

In 1992, Ettore took part in a TV show called Il più bello d'Italia. He won the title for the best talent! The next year, 1993, he started presenting TV shows on Rai 1 with La Banda dello Zecchino. In 1994, he began his acting career in a TV miniseries called Italian Restaurant. For many years after that, he worked as both a TV presenter and an actor in TV shows, movies, and plays.

Becoming Famous

In 2000, Ettore Bassi helped present the Jubilee World Youth Day alongside Pope John Paul II. This event was shown all over the world! He became very famous in Italy for playing Marshal Andrea Ferri in the TV series Carabinieri. He was in this show from 2002 to 2005.

In 2003, he won an award called Telegrolla d'oro for being the best actor in Italian TV shows. In 2005, he received the Agesp Prize for Best TV Fiction. That same year, Ettore also started car racing, following a passion for cars he got from his father. He even had some success in racing!

In 2005, Ettore acted in two TV miniseries: Imperium: Saint Peter and Pope John Paul II. From 2006 to 2007, he played a children's doctor named Corrado Milani in the TV series Nati ieri. He even added some of his own magic tricks to his character!

In 2007, he played Giorgio Piromallo in the TV miniseries St. Giuseppe Moscati: Doctor to the Poor. In the same year, he played Saint Francis of Assisi in the TV miniseries Clare and Francis. For this role, he received the Sant'Antonio International Award in 2008.

In 2009, Ettore played the main character in the TV miniseries Mal'aria. In 2010, it was announced that he would join the police TV series Inspector Rex. He played Inspector Davide Rivera in the 14th and 15th seasons of Inspector Rex. In 2014, he acted in the movie Maldamore and then in the TV series Fuoriclasse and È arrivata la felicità. In 2015, he presented the TV show Quando Mamma non c'è with his daughters.

Theatre Work

Besides his TV work, Ettore Bassi has also performed a lot in the theatre. He acted in plays like Il muro (The Wall), which was inspired by Pink Floyd's music. He also starred in Trappola mortale (Deathtrap), for which he won the Charlot Theatre Prize in 2015. Other plays include L'amore migliora la vita and Il sindaco pescatore. In 2016, he received the Monopoli City Prize for his performances. In 2017, he played Frank Farmer in the musical The Bodyguard - Guardia del corpo, a role played by Kevin Costner in the original movie.
