The Bolivian anaconda (Eunectes beniensis) is a type of boa snake. It is also called the Beni anaconda. This snake lives only in the northeastern parts of Bolivia. Like all boas, it is not venomous. This means it does not have poison.

About the Bolivian Anaconda

The Bolivian anaconda is a large snake. It can grow to be about 3.3 to 4.4 meters (11 to 14 feet) long. It can weigh up to 35 kilograms (77 pounds).

For a while, scientists thought this anaconda might be a mix of the green anaconda (Eunectes murinus) and the yellow anaconda (Eunectes notaeus). But later, they found it was its own special kind of snake! It looks a lot like the yellow anaconda. The Bolivian anaconda is closely related to the yellow anaconda and Eunectes deschauenseei.

Where Does It Live?

The Bolivian anaconda lives in wet, muddy places. It likes swampy areas that are often flooded. These areas are found in the Beni region of Bolivia.

In April 2022, some researchers saw something amazing. They watched Bolivian river dolphins playing with a very large Bolivian anaconda. It seemed the anaconda was no longer alive.
