Evan D. Goldberg (born September 15, 1982) is a Canadian writer, producer, and director for movies and TV shows. He often works with his friend Seth Rogen. Together, they have created many popular films. Some of these include Superbad, Pineapple Express, and This Is the End. They also made The Interview, Sausage Party, and Good Boys. More recently, they worked on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. In 2019, Goldberg and Rogen also started a company called Houseplant in Canada.
Early Life and Education
Evan Goldberg was born on September 15, 1982. He grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His family is Jewish. He went to Point Grey Secondary School in a neighborhood called Marpole. This is where he met and became friends with Seth Rogen. After high school, he studied at McGill University.
Evan Goldberg's Career in Film and TV
Goldberg began his writing career in 2004. He joined the team for Da Ali G Show. His childhood friend and comedy partner, Seth Rogen, was also part of the team.
Working with Seth Rogen
Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen have worked together on many movies. They have a production company called Point Grey Pictures. They named it after their high school. Some of their early movies together include Knocked Up, Superbad, and Pineapple Express. They also worked on Funny People and The Green Hornet.
To get people interested in their movie This Is the End, Goldberg made a special preview trailer. The movie was first called Jay and Seth Versus the Apocalypse. It came out in June 2013. Goldberg and Rogen's company, Point Grey Pictures, also teamed up with Good Universe. They worked together to make more comedy films.
Writing for The Simpsons
Goldberg and Rogen are huge fans of The Simpsons. They found out that one of the show's main producers, James L. Brooks, liked their movie Superbad. So, they asked if they could write an episode for The Simpsons. They were invited to the writers' room. They shared many ideas for episodes. One of their ideas was chosen. They wrote the story with help from the show's regular writers. This became the episode "Homer the Whopper". It was the first episode of season twenty-one.
Evan Goldberg also shared his advice in a book. It is called Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss.
