Emily "Eve" Best (born 31 July 1971) is a talented English actress and director. She is well-known for her exciting roles on TV. You might recognize her as Dr. Eleanor O'Hara in the show Nurse Jackie (2009–2013). She also played First Lady Dolley Madison in an American Experience TV special (2011). More recently, she played Princess Rhaenys Targaryen in HBO's popular series House of the Dragon (2022–2024).
Eve Best has also had a very successful career in theatre. She won a big award called the Olivier Award for Best Actress in 2006 for her role in the play Hedda Gabler. She also performed on Broadway, which is a famous theatre district in New York City. There, she won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Play and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play twice!

Growing Up and School
Eve Best grew up in Ladbroke Grove, a part of London. Her mom was an actress and her dad was a design journalist. She started performing at a young age, joining the W11 Opera children's opera company when she was just nine years old.
She went to Wycombe Abbey Girls' School and then studied English at Lincoln College, Oxford University. While at Oxford, she was very active in student plays. After finishing university, she got her first professional acting job. She played the character Beatrice in the play Much Ado About Nothing at the Southwark Playhouse theatre.
Her Acting Career
After performing in smaller theatres in London, Eve Best went on to train at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). This is a very famous drama school in London.
She won a major theatre award, the Laurence Olivier Award, for her role in Hedda Gabler. The next year, she was nominated for the same award for her performance in A Moon for the Misbegotten.
In 2007, she made her debut on Broadway in New York City with A Moon for the Misbegotten. For this role, she was nominated for a Tony Award, which is one of the highest honors in American theatre. She later returned to Broadway in 2008 for the play The Homecoming.
Eve Best has also directed plays. In 2013, she directed a production of Macbeth at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London. This was her first time directing a play. In 2014, she played the famous queen Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra at the same theatre.

Eve Best has appeared in many popular TV shows. These include Prime Suspect: The Final Act (2006), Waking the Dead (2004), and The Inspector Lynley Mysteries (2005).
From 2009 to 2013, she was a main character, Dr. Eleanor O'Hara, in the TV series Nurse Jackie. She also played Wallis Simpson in the 2010 movie The King's Speech, which starred Colin Firth.
In 2013, she played Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, in the TV movie The Challenger Disaster. More recently, she played Farah Dowling in Fate: The Winx Saga (2021–2022) and Princess Rhaenys Targaryen in House of the Dragon (2022–2024). In 2023, she starred in the TV series Maryland and appeared in The Crown.
