Club History: How FC Trollhättan Started
FC Trollhättan was created in 2001. It happened when two older rival teams, Trollhättans IF and Trollhättans FK, decided to join forces. This merger brought together players and fans from both sides, making one bigger and stronger club.
First Games and Big Wins
The team's very first league match was on April 22, 2002. They played against Ljungskile SK and won 1–0! The winning goal was scored by Michel Berndtsson in the 79th minute.
Their first home game was just a few days later, on April 28, 2002. They played Askims IK and won 1–0 again. This game was special because a local newspaper paid for everyone's tickets. Over 3,000 people came to watch, which was a huge crowd!
Fans and Promotion to a Higher League
On June 6, 2002, the official fan club, FCT Black Support, was started. This showed how much excitement there was around the new team.
Later that year, on September 26, 2002, FC Trollhättan beat Askims IK 3–1. This win meant they had won their league! They then played against Falkenbergs FF to try and get promoted to a higher league called Superettan.
The first game against Falkenberg was at home on October 12, 2002, and FCT won 3–2. A week later, on October 19, they officially moved up to Superettan! This was a huge achievement for the new club. Henrik Bertilsson, a player who had played in Sweden's top league, scored the goal that secured their promotion.
Coaching Changes Over the Years
In 2004, Jonas Olsson became the team's coach. He led the team until the end of the 2006 season. After him, Lars-Olof Mattsson took over. Mattsson was a very experienced coach who had even coached Sweden's U21 national team. He had also helped other teams get promoted to the top league.
