About FC Trollhättan
FC Trollhättan was created in 2001. It was formed when two older rival clubs, Trollhättans IF and Trollhättans FK, decided to join forces. This merger brought together the best of both teams.
Early Days and First Wins
The club's very first league match was on April 22, 2002. They played away against Ljungskile SK in Division II, which was Sweden's third-highest league at the time. FC Trollhättan won the game 1–0. The first historic goal was scored by Michel Berndtsson in the 79th minute.
Their first home game was on April 28, 2002, against Askims IK. FC Trollhättan won again, 1–0. A local newspaper, Trollhättans tidning, even paid for everyone to attend! This brought in a crowd of 3,083 people.
On June 6, 2002, the club's official fan group, FCT Black Support, was started.
Climbing the Leagues
FC Trollhättan quickly showed they were a strong team. On September 26, 2002, they beat Askims IK 3–1 away from home. This win secured their league title and meant they would play against Falkenbergs FF for a spot in Superettan. Superettan is Sweden's second-highest football league.
The first playoff game was on October 12, 2002, at home. FC Trollhättan won 3–2. A week later, on October 19, they officially earned promotion to Superettan! This happened when Henrik Bertilsson, a former professional player, scored the winning goal.
Coaches and Club Development
In 2004, Jonas Olsson became the team's coach. He led the team until the end of the 2006 season. After him, Lars-Olof Mattsson took over. Lars-Olof Mattsson had a lot of experience. He had coached the Swedish U21 team and helped Ljungskile SK get promoted to Allsvenskan (Sweden's top league) in 1996.
FC Trollhättan's Journey Through the Leagues
