Falkenbergs Fotbollsförening, often called Falkenbergs FF or just FFF, is a football club from Falkenberg, Sweden. The club started on January 3, 1928. Today, they play in the Superettan, which is the second-highest football league in Sweden. Falkenbergs FF is part of the Hallands Fotbollförbund, a local football association.
Discovering the Club's Past
A chart showing the progress of Falkenbergs FF through the Swedish football league system. The different shades of gray represent league divisions.
For its first 30 years, Falkenbergs FF mostly played in a league called Division 3. In those early days, the club wasn't just about football. They also played other sports like bandy (a sport similar to ice hockey) and handball.
In the early 1970s, around 1973 and 1974, FFF was playing in Division 6. But then, they started to climb up the ranks! They earned two promotions in a row. In 1986, they moved from Division 3 to Division 2. The very next year, in 1987, they were promoted again to Division 1. This meant that 1988 was the first time Falkenbergs FF played in the second-highest league in Swedish football.
In 1998, Falkenbergs FF had a really strong start to the season. They were even leading Division 1 Södra and hoped to reach the top league, Allsvenskan. However, they couldn't keep up that pace for the whole season. They ended up finishing seventh in the league.
