Fabian Nürnberger's Football Journey
Fabian Nürnberger was born in Hamburg, Germany. He started playing football at a young age. In his youth, he played for the Niendorfer TSV under-19 team. He played 21 games for them and scored 4 goals.
Playing for 1. FC Nürnberg
When he was 18 years old, Fabian joined 1. FC Nürnberg, a big football club in Germany. He first played for their second team, which is like a reserve team. He played 31 games for this team and helped them by scoring three goals and making three assists. His team finished third in their league that season.
After playing well, Fabian signed his first professional contract in May 2019. This meant he would play for the main 1. FC Nürnberg team. He made his first appearance for the professional team in a game against VfL Osnabrück. He came into the game as a substitute, helping his team win 1–0.
Joining Darmstadt 98
On May 30, 2023, Fabian Nürnberger joined Darmstadt 98. He signed a contract with them until June 2026. He moved to Darmstadt 98 as a free transfer, which means his old contract had ended. Darmstadt 98 had just returned to the Bundesliga, which is Germany's top football league.
Playing for Bulgaria
Fabian Nürnberger has a special background. His father is German, and his mother is Bulgarian. This meant he could choose to play for either the German national team or the Bulgarian national team.
In 2019, the coach of the Bulgaria national team, Krasimir Balakov, thought about calling Fabian to play for them. Later, in September 2023, Georgi Ivanov, a director at the Bulgarian Football Union, announced that Fabian had agreed to play for Bulgaria.
Fabian received his first call-up to the Bulgarian national team in August 2024. This was for the UEFA Nations League C matches. He made his debut on September 5, 2024, in a game against Belarus. He played the whole game, which ended in a 0–0 draw.
