Fairuz's Early Racing Days

Fairuz Fauzy began his racing journey in 1994, starting with karting events. Karting is often the first step for many future race car drivers. In 1999, he moved up to British Formula Ford, which uses small, open-wheel race cars.
The next year, in 2000, he joined British Formula Renault. This series helped him improve his racing skills even more. By 2002, Fairuz was racing in British Formula 3, a more advanced series. He started in the B-Class and then moved to the main class in 2003.
In 2005, Fairuz joined the GP2 Series. This series is a step below Formula One, where many talented drivers compete. He raced for the DAMS team. Even though he didn't score points in his first year, he kept racing in GP2 in 2006. During this time, he also drove for A1 Team Malaysia in the A1 Grand Prix series, representing his country.
In 2007, Fairuz competed in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series with the Cram Competition team. He returned to the GP2 Asia Series in 2008 with the Super Nova team. In 2009, he had a great year in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series with Mofaz Racing. He finished second overall in the championship, which was a fantastic achievement!
Fairuz in Formula One
Fairuz Fauzy got a big opportunity in 2007 when he became a test and reserve driver for the Spyker F1 team. This meant he would help test the car and be ready to race if a main driver couldn't.
In 2009, there was talk that he might join Lotus Racing as a reserve driver for 2010. On November 9, 2009, Mike Gascoyne, a top person at Lotus Racing, confirmed that Fairuz would indeed be their test driver. However, he also made it clear that Fairuz would not be getting a full-time race seat.
On December 13, 2009, Fairuz was officially announced as the third driver for Lotus. This meant he would often drive during practice sessions at Grand Prix weekends. He got to drive in the first practice session at the 2010 Malaysian Grand Prix, replacing Heikki Kovalainen. He completed 19 laps and was faster than some other cars. He also drove in practice sessions at the 2010 British Grand Prix, 2010 German Grand Prix, and 2010 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
After the 2010 season, Fairuz left Lotus Racing. The team's main sponsor, Group Lotus, decided to support Renault F1 instead. As part of this new deal, Fairuz became a test and reserve driver for Renault in 2011, alongside other talented drivers like Bruno Senna.
After Formula One
Fairuz wanted to race full-time again in 2011. He rejoined Super Nova Racing for the 2011 GP2 Series and 2011 GP2 Asia Series. He scored his first points in the main GP2 series in the first race of the championship. He finished 18th in the main series championship that year.
