This ward includes parts of several communities. These are Dunvant, Upper Killay, Poundffald, and Three Crosses. Fairwood is part of the larger Gower area for national elections.
Fairwood is surrounded by other wards. To the southwest, you'll find Gower and Pennard. To the northwest is Penclawdd. Gowerton is to the northeast. To the east, there is Dunvant and Killay. Finally, Mayals is to the southwest, and Bishopston is to the south.
The village of Upper Killay is an important part of the Fairwood ward. It is located about 3.5 miles west of the center of Swansea.
