Discovering Falkenfelsen
What is Falkenfelsen?
Falkenfelsen is a giant rock cliff made of a strong type of stone called granite. Imagine a huge, natural wall of rock reaching high into the sky! It's found in the beautiful Black Forest, which is a large, forested mountain range in southwestern Germany. The name "Falcons Rock" might make you think of the birds that could live or fly around such a tall cliff.
Exploring the Area
If you love hiking, Falkenfelsen is a great place to visit. There are two special hiking trails that start from the Schwarzwaldhochstraße (which means "Black Forest Highway"). These trails lead you right through the rock formation itself, offering exciting views as you walk.
The Herta-hut Shelter
Both hiking trails end at a cozy shelter called the Herta-hut. This hut is a perfect spot to rest after your hike. From a special platform near the hut, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
